Resolution and Color
The images that you see on this web site are much lower quality than
the prints they represent:
- they have far less resolution (fewer pixels) than the actual prints
to begin with;
- the images have also been compressed.
Both of these factors reduce the image size and thus increase the speed
with which they can be displayed on your computer. The reduction in image
quality is tolerable because the resolution of computer monitors (usually
around 72 pixels per inch vertically and horizontally) is far less than
the resolution of the printer I use to create prints (2880 pixels per
inch by 1440 pixels per inch).
Finally, the colors in the actual prints will differ slightly from those
in the images you see here for several reasons:
- the settings (brightness, contrast, color balance) of your computer
monitor and the characteristics of its phosphors;
- computer monitors emit light, while the prints reflect
light;
- the lighting conditions under which the prints will be viewed.
Despite these differences, you can order prints without worry because
of our money-back guarantee.
For best results, I recommend displaying prints in a well-lit area. Too
little light can dull down even the most spectacular images.
